Studies

Being labour driven, ideas often come to existence after recognising the beauty of a technical action or a mundane result. Departing from such input, we start to recognise the conceptual connection between the technical making and the universal idea behind a product.

By exploring the potential of a rock, a technical action, a historical or functional reference in relation to jewellery, we seek to unravel these aspects within the endproduct itself.  As an endproduct, the studies outstep the commercial expectation for a jewel to be functional or wearable. Its impracticality or dis-functioning, shifts focus to the more concealed aspects of jewellery.

The outcome showcased in our studies, give insights to the origin of the bond between stones and jewellery. For the origin being its history, function, source, making process, concept and potency.
